Minuteman Press in Chester is a Veteran-owned Small Business that Offers a Wide Range of Products & Services to Help Clients Grow

CHESTER, Va., Sept. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After dedicating his life and career to public service, David Farmer has realized his dream of owning his own business. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, David is the new owner of the Minuteman Press design, marketing, and digital printing franchise located at 4100 W Hundred Rd. in Chester, Virginia.

David reflects on his journey to Minuteman Press: "I am a retired firefighter/paramedic with over 30 years of public service. I also served 11 years in The United States Marines Corps Reserves. I was honored to serve 18 months of active duty post 9/11. My latest career path prior to entering the Minuteman Press family was as an emergency manager for HCA."

Today, David provides the community of Chester with high quality products and services that are provided by the trustworthy team he is happy to have in place. He says, "Minuteman Press in Chester is a Veteran-owned small business that offers a wide range of services to assist your business, organization or team reach their goals. We are a full-service print shop that produces excellent products along with an endless variety of promotional items, marketing items, graphic design and website creation. We want to assist you in completing projects, delivering your marketing messages and promoting your efforts."

While David is new to business ownership, he has a unique understanding of his customers' needs because he used to be a client himself. He explains, "I chose Minuteman Press because of the positive experiences that I have with the company. I utilized the services of the Chester store on numerous occasions and for different organizations. I was impressed with the ability of the store to assist me in creating my projects. The franchise seemed to care about each customer and worked hard to satisfy my needs."

David elaborates on Minuteman Press in Chester's unique ability to serve such a diverse group of clients: "We serve a wide variety of clients in the Chesterfield area. Our largest client is a local trash collection company. They request several large projects per month. We also serve several churches, schools, restaurants, charities, and sports teams. One of my favorite groups to work with is a paralyzed Veterans organization. Another of my favorite clients is a local preacher. He brings such a positive vibe to the shop while he's there due to his friendliness, eagerness to serve others, and his desire to always improve his sermons."

Minuteman Press in Chester has also made a real difference in the community thanks to David's leadership. He outlines his vision and core values as a small business owner: "I developed a list of objectives that I wanted to strive for when I started this business. The first objective was to positively impact the local community. I work with numerous organizations to do just that. I am a member of the Southside BNI group and The Chester Business Association. I have assisted several groups with donations and co-sponsoring efforts. These include The Riverbend Home Owners Association, The Bark and Crawl Group, Celebrations on the Reservoir for their fundraiser, The Thomas Dale High School Class of 1988 Committee, The Chesterfield County Schools Scholarship Association, and Wells Warriors Sports Association."

In addition to getting involved and becoming an integral part of the fabric of Chester, there are rewards to owning a printing franchise such as Minuteman Press. David states, "Operating a small business has challenges and rewards that I did not experience as a fireman. I find the most satisfying experience to be when the customer is obviously satisfied with our services. Seeing their idea transform into a completed project is very gratifying."

When he does run into any challenges or needs additional advice, David is happy to have the backing and support of the Minuteman Press franchise team, including the local field support staff in Virginia. He says, "Minuteman Press has been there for me along each step of the process. The initial training is excellent. The support and service from the field representatives is ongoing and positive. I know that assistance is a phone call away." David adds, "I would also like to thank my hardworking staff for getting myself as well as Minuteman Press in Chester going in the right direction. I could not have made it this far without them."

"David Farmer is a great asset to the Minuteman Press franchise family," says Bob Heimbuch, Minuteman Press International Regional Vice President in Virginia. "He is applying the same core principles from his time with the Marines as well as his life of public service and is dedicated to his clients. I look forward to continuing to support David and his team."

Since taking over the business, David and his staff have worked together to yield positive results. He says, "We have seen several improvements in the center's abilities since I took over. We have increased sales and decreased costs through basic analysis. I organized shop operations and processes and have increased the number of vendors that we work with to benefit our customers."

Any aspiring business owner who is looking into entrepreneurship or franchising could learn a thing or two from David Farmer. He offers this advice:  "Find the right people for the right positions. Hire great people, protect them and foster them so that they can realize how important that they are to you and the business. This is where excellent customer service begins."
